I first read about the newly opened Icarus Store on Reservoir St, Surry Hills on Tuesday night when I was clicking my way through Two Thousand and was very interested to check it out. In need of a new backpack for my big return to being a struggling student, I realised that Icarus stocked some pretty awesome bags so this was my chance. The store is just as Emily described it on Two Thousand. Hugely influenced by New York’s Lower East Side, places like Soho, Nolita and Tribeca, with original New York brands to boot and designed by Sydney’s own, Lenny Wong.

Here’s the bag I ended up getting (RED), but would love to be able to buy so much more. Thanks for all of your help Jo.

Bastille Day at the Beach Haus

Last night Le Coq Sportif held a special presentation for their new range at Blanco Restaurant & the Beach Haus in King’s Cross to celebrate the French national holiday, Bastille Day.

With free Kronenburg, Arrogant Frog and escargot all night (or at least until it ran out), it turned out to be quite a successful evening. Cannot wait for next year’s Bastille Day already. I’m definitely going to take the ISO down a notch next time. Or perhaps invest in a front mount lighting unit

A Fresh Start

I bought myself a new Canon 5D Mark II today and wanted to experiment with the Video functionality. This is my first attempt at recording anything, ever, and I hope to continue with it and learn some fun things along the way.

Behind the Deja Crew Shoot

Deja Crew is an all-girl dance group from Sydney who recently, together with Psyde Project, brought home the FIRST place trophy from the World of Dance competition in New York City! Congratulations girls!

This video has been in the making for a long time now and I had just gotten to the point where I was so sick of not having it completed. There are so many parts that I wasn’t totally happy with, so I started fresh tonight with the new Mark Ronson single and knew I wasn’t going to go to bed until I had got it done. It’s not perfect, but I’m just happy it’s finished.

Shot on a Canon 450D with an 18-200mm lens at 1600 ISO (loads of noise I know!) and mostly f/3.5.
